Do your professional services teams love logging time on their timesheets?

Do they really?

None of mine ever have!

The chances are, your teams are the same.

Despite being a key pillar of any Professional Services business, timesheets are usually a pain to collate but without them you can’t accurately:

·       Bill a customer

·       Assess how the project is progressing

·       Get lessons learned for future project estimating

Timesheet entry doesn’t come naturally to most people.

There’s always something “more important” to do.

Consistent timesheet entry is down to professional discipline and removing the barriers to entry.

Too many analysis codes and people are unsure where to log their time and they start logging time against any old code. This makes the analysis inaccurate.

Too much manual entry not only puts up a barrier but makes analysis really difficult.

Both issues can slow down time entry.

Training makes a big difference. Not only what to do but why you’re doing it.

Like most things, once it becomes habitual, it becomes embedded in the organisation.

Timesheets will never be fun, but they don’t have to be painful!
